WL1030

all the relevant design documentation of the WL1030 in particular.

                                                In honor of Maarten Hagg
This is a receive only antenna!

The designer

Maarten Hagg, 2001

It has been some time ago now that Maarten finalized the design of the WL1030 and started to plan
production. He had some prototypes produced at home and started up talks with vendors and an
assembly partner. But his plans came to an abrupt end when he died in August 2005.

Not only leaving behind family and friends but also all his intellectual property.

Still queries regarding the WL1030 antenna where received and it's for this reason and to honor
Maarten, that we have been putting up this internet site in 2006.

The design

The intension is to reveal the design and make it possible for those of you who do have the skills, to build a WL1030 yourself. All the relevant documents will be made available here and the needed documentation will be placed in the folders accessible by registered users.

Builders comment

I just wanted to tell you that I have now completed the WL1030 loop antenna project and it works extremely well, so thank you very much for the boards. I have been trying since March '08 to produce a circuit board but have always failed when using the very fine drills needed and had almost given up!!  (William Stone, UK.)

Commercial info

Although it has been Maarten's plan to make some money with his WL1030 design, we decided not to do. If you have plans though to commercialise the WL1030 design, please get in contact with me before starting your activities.

Builders society

In 2007 an initiative started by a couple of radio enthusiast to help the HAM radio community with kits, containing the 'difficult' SMD components, coils and an amplifier pcb. They also support the builders with additional information, tips, pictures and the site has an active forum. You can find this site (which is in Dutch) at: www.ng-ronde.nl/wl1030.

More copies of the design!

In March 2008, appeared in the 'QRP NIEUWSBRIEF', a quaterly magazine of the Benelux QRP Club, suddenly an other copy of the design. Again we where not informed by the author, (the way it goes in the Netherlands) so I regard this again as 'Steal with Pride' and feel free to show you the articles. Unfortunately in Dutch but with easy to understand pictures and diagrams. You can find the scanned pages here.   (Note: 4 Mb pdf file)

The good news is that Kent Electronics will have most of the components, including the OPA847, in stock for you!

User forum

There is a small forum on this site to stay in contact with you. Please feel free to enter your comments and feedback directly related to this site.

Further support
